16 reasons to start a blog in another language

Sharing information and learning are the two things I like most. A blog is the right place to do so. I am French, I live in Brazil and started blogging in 2001 through simple html pages. Most of my blogs are written in French and today I’m very proud to start this new blog in English. It took me three years to take this decision!

Why blogging in another language? Let me sum up my motivation to write a blog in English.

    1. I need to practice this language, so this will be a good opportunity for me to improve my writing.
    2. The more you write, the better you write. This is not only true  for languages, but also for your new ideas.
    3. One day I’ll start having new ideas in English that I wouldn’t have had if I wrote only in French.
    4. I’m writing an average three posts a day on my French blog, I am expecting to translate most of the posts.  I noticed that the hardest part of blogging is to have an idea than to edit the post with images. The easy part is translation it takes a tenth of my time to translate a blog post.
    5. Translating your own writing is very easy and you don’t need to do a strict translation, this is the fun of it! Adjust to what really matters. When your write in your mother tongue you tend to be very prolix. In another language you tend to get straight to the point.
    6. Blogging is a nice way to get to know people and share knowledge, so why should I stick with only  French speaking people. After all, I didn’t ask to be born in France.
    7. Theoretically to  get more opportunity to make money, so why not have a try!
    8. To find some more business opportunities.
    9. It’s a way to virtually travel without leaving a country.
    10. Designing a first blog from scratch is a lot of work. The second blog is just very easy to set up. As we say in French “finger in the nose”.
    11. mention my English blog instead of my French blogs which deters most English people to read it.
    12. I would like one day to live in the USA,  Canada or the UK  to give  my daughters an opportunity  to learn English.  So I have to keep up with my English.
    13. To give  a French taste on this blog, although I’m living in Brazil.
    14. Learning languages is good against Alzheimer .
    15. I might make new good friends with  this blog. I already have friends who don’t read French, but many read English.
    16. I may help a few french start up to reach the english world through this blog

So pardon my  awkward English writing, I’m sure that it will improve a lot thanks to this blog.
